Angie's Wholesale

Print Design • Print Marketing • Digital Marketing

Over the years Angie's Wholesale and Lumen Creative have built a collaborative and fruitful relationship that continues to improve productivity and efficiency for their independent distributorship.

Year: 2020

Angie’s Wholesale is a food distribution organization out of beautiful Southern California. Since it’s inception in 1977 Angie’s has been specializing in Italian food ingredients, tantalizing cheese, meats and more. For decades this brand stood strong and held onto their Italian roots, but as time went on the team at Angie’s felt the brand need to modernize, as well as much of the marketing and strategy.

As everyone knows 2020 brought a major change in how we lived our lives and how we did business.  Angie’s was no exception and quickly needed to pivot their business model to allow for contactless delivery and other safety measures required of food distributors during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Working with Lumen on all these initiatives has been so fun, really so easy to accomplish so much over the year or so. I can always count on them to be quick in their responses, amazing designers and just a great partner to have.

- Lisa Rojano, Angie's Wholesale CEO

Lumen was there as a resource for Angie’s during the pandemic, starting with social media posts to alert followers that they were ready to handle deliveries in this new method, and would continue to provide high quality products with the same level of service.

As the relationship grew during that unprecedented time, more opportunities to work together arose.  Lumen helped produce Angie’s 2020 calendar, holiday cards, product guide and quarterly newsletters, which also included a rebrand of the original Angie’s logo.

They really wanted to hang on to the nostalgic feel of their original logo but bring to life a lively and modern twist. The team at Angie’s worked closely with Lumen to outline several concepts and proceeded to quickly move forward with one version that seemed to just hit the nail on the head or put the pepperoni on the pizza if you will!

With Lumen’s creative approach and lightning-fast response times, Angie’s team decided the next initiative was to redesign and develop the website. While their old website did a good job highlighting their Italian specialties, it did miss opportunities to showcase the other services and programs they offer, as well as highlighting the staff and facilities which continued to grow.

Working closely with the Lumen development team Angie’s was able to create a beautifully modern and attractive site utilizing WordPress and all the framework and extensibility to allow the Angie’s staff to add new blog posts and social media featuring programs, products, staff, services and more.

During this time social media for Angie’s had been a stressor for the team to keep up with. When Angies’ switched to Lumen social media services, they were able to strategize a calendar of social posts monthly that shared the products, services and staff wins that created an engaging and lively social media channel.

Since implementing this new strategy, and allowing Lumen to help manage their social media, Angie’s has seen a 96% increase in audience growth and whopping 185% in their total engagement.  While it can be difficult to translate this attention to $$ in the bank Angie’s brand recognition and web site traffic have increased as well, over the last year.

The next phase of Angie’s plan was to rewrap their fleet of vehicles including box and refrigerated trucks. The idea was to create an Italian meal theme, that harkened back to an old world feel, while still lending the modern and clean aesthetic that the updated logo, brand, website and social media had already started.

To that end Angie’s, in collaboration with Lumen, has expanded by including all the different initiatives, and it should not be forgotten that each project they completed was also eligible to receive program dollars because of their membership in the Golbon program. Lastly, but certainly not least, Lumen was proud to present Angie’s with their annual Lumen Spark Award in San Antonio during the Golbon Fall Conference and Awards in 2021.
